You may recall that on my trip to Haiti last year, St. Louis Scott Gallagher donated a bunch of jerseys and balls to the village of Bel Vie. This was a highlight of my trip and I wrote about it here. Here are some photos that I put together of the “big match” with the older kids and adults.
Well, they’re at it again! Mark Dorsey, U-9 St. Louis Scott Gallagher Soccer Club (SLSG) coach approached me a week ago and asked if they could raise awareness of Haiti’s children by having a fundraising drive for used soccer gear.
The SLSG U-9’s had a small friendlies tourney this weekend at Omni Sports Complex in St. Charles. Mark and the other coaches are asked their players to donate their old soccer gear that we’ll send to the children in the village of Bel Vie.
I think this is a wonderful idea. I can tell you first hand how appreciative the kids are in Haiti of the support from the U.S. St. Joe’s of Cottleville donated some t-shirts for the younger children.
Thanks,Mark, and to the entire St. Louis Scott Gallagher Soccer Club.
I stopped by today and shot a few pictures of the match that was underway. You can view them here.
